CRAVEN ARMS CRUCK BARN. YORKSHIRE DALES.
With a busy 2016 wedding season ahead I can’t think of a better way of catching up with my blog than revisiting Sara + Michael’s big day back in mid December. I do like an organised Bride and Sara is no exception. This gorgeous pair planned everything meticulously for their wedding celebrations down to the very last detail at The Craven Arms Cruck Barn in Appletreewick, North Yorkshire. To say I was impressed when the link to their personal wedding website popped up in my inbox would be an understatement!
I began the day shooting at The Devonshire Fell Hotel in Burnsall where the couple and their families were getting ready. Michael is one of seven brothers and with all their nearest and dearest in the one place together, along with their two adorable daughters to help them play centre stage for the day, the wedding was all set. There were tears (when Sara’s sister sang a beautiful version of Elton John’s – Your Song during the signing of the register), laughter and their Yorkshire Dales WEDDING DAY unfolded just beautifully.
I first met with the couple and their girls, Sophia-Lily and Isla, on their pre wedding shoot down by the river in Barden on a blistering hot sunny day and oh! what a contrast to the weather on the day of their wedding. I won’t bang on about it too much though, as it really didn’t shape their day in the slightest, but I will say this…Never have I worked in such relentless rain!! Hats off to the new Mr + Mrs Healy as they braved the storms and were an absolute dream to work with. After the ceremony at St. Wilfred’s Church in Burnsall we made for the bridge that crosses over to Appletreewick. After a good soaking in the rain we retreated to the cosiness of the thatched roofed Cruck Barn for a mulled cider. Just perfect!
Evening celebrations kicked off in style with The Mini Big band. A ten-piece, swing band that had the wedding party up dancing until the early hours.
I loved everything about Mr + Mrs Healy’s day and I was made to feel every bit a part of it. Congratulations Mr + Mrs Healy. Here are my favourites from your day.
Much love, Georgie xx
